ALLEN, Hansel - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Hansel Allen, 25-year-old Veedersburg soldier was killed in action in the NW Africa sector of Sept 11, according to word received late Monday by his parents, Mr. and M. Homer Allen, who reside on a farm 6 mi SW of Veedersburg. No details of the death were contained in the telegram from the war department but it was presumed that he lost his life in the battle of Salerno, Italy which would be included in the NW African theatre of war. The young man, together with his brohter, Morris Allen was inducted into the army in Oct 1942. The two were together until recently when Morris had been ill and in a hospital. Survivors include the parents, two brothers, Morris and Euiln, who are at home and a sister, Mrs. Oveta Norris of Kingman .

Hancel Allen, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Allen, residing about six miles southwest of Veedersburg, near Cates was killed Sept 11 in the North African Theater of War which also may include Italy. The message came on Monday afternoon from the War Department. The popular young man had been overseas with the Armed Forces about a year and a half after receiving his basic trainin gin Georgia. He entered the service with his brother, Morris and they have remained together through their training and in North Afica. Morris is in a hospital at the present time in Africa. Besides the parents he leaves another brother, Ulhlein Allen and a sister, Mrs. Oveta Norris of Kingman.
